Once every four years, the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition invites a select few young pianists to compete for significant awards. Since 1962, this esteemed piano competition has honored Van Cliburn, who was only 23 years old in 1958, when he won the first International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow – at the height of the Cold War. Continuing the tradition, the Cliburn Competition Silver Medal winner, selected on June 7, 2009, will perform on the Great Hall stage. The complete 13th Van Cliburn Competition, including the final award announcement, is available online at www.cliburn.org.'
