You will be wowed! The most visually stunning show of the year! Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company is a blend of traditional and contemporary Chinese dance. See and understand the cultures of China as the company melds ancient Chinese forms with modern dance in an artistic and inventive marriage of styles.  The Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company “… features timeless elements which often surprise audiences by their fresh, contemporary look at everything from romance to the exuberant spectacle of the Chinese ribbon dance.” (Center for the Arts)

Dynasties and Beyond takes the audience on an artistic journey from the past to the present, from the East to the West, opening with elegant dances from the Chinese dynasties and closing with the rapid swirls of Lily Cai’s modern ribbon dance choreography.

The Dynasty Suite presents dances from thousands of years of Chinese culture, replete with colorful costumes and ornamental headdresses. Shifting is an ode to the variety of fan dances, performed throughout China by Lily's own Han nationality - from ethnic folk dances to the dramatic movement from the Beijing Opera. 

From its traditional beginning, the program then moves to a graceful East/West blend in Candelas, performed to candlelight. The Silk Cascade finale, inspired by the art of Jackson Pollock, is an explosion of color,  blending tradition with modern dance amid vibrant contemporary swirls of long silk ribbons.
